WHY THE ///\\\ /// ///\\\\\ ////////// /// \\\ /// /// /// /// /// \\\ /// ///\\\ /// /// \\\ /// /// \\\\\\\/// /// \\\ /// /// /// /// \\\/// ///\\\\\ ////////// IS THE BEST!!!! Back in 1985, when I got my first NES, I was the happiest little boy you could have ever seen. I had wanted that system for the longest time, due to the fact that Nintendo had so many commercials running it was almost impossible to ignore the "Nintendo. Now You're Playing With Power!" slogan. My first game was Super Mario Brothers, and I can still remember throwing the controller when I couldn't get past the goomba guys. Well, alot has changed since then. The Berlin wall came down, the Soviet Union collapsed, and Nintendo sold over 1 billion games. I kinda changed along with that. Obviously I grew (alot), but I fell for the hype, including the GB, Genesis, SNES, and the PS-X. I bought them because I thought they looked cool. I never for a second thought that it was my NES that would still be fun after all these years. But once I discovered the NES Nation, I came to realize it is. All these other systems now gather dust in my closet. The NES is the best system out there, and for me, always will be. I couldn't care less about 64-bit processors, how many millions of colors, and characters with rectangles for heads. I'll give a few reasons why the NES is better then the N64 or PS-X. 1.Playability. The companies today are too concerned about having great graphics that they forget to make the games fun. I'm not saying this about all companies, but the majority of them boast about the game or system's great graphics, and the game is impossible to control, or it's too friggen' easy. NES games are hard. Take Low G Man for example. I've had that game for 6 years and just beat it this month. The original Zelda for example. That game was so much harder than The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for SNES. The original Zelda gave very few hints as to where things were, and they were hidden well. For SNES, well, the creator boasted about the games "mode 7" graphics. Don't get me wrong, the SNES Zelda was a great game, but I beat it in a week. 2.Replay value. The games for the NES are just "fun". That's all there is to it. Final Fantasy, the SMB series, the Zeldas, Kid Icarus, and many, many more. These games are still fun to play after about 10 years. I got sick of SM64 because it took me a week to beat it. I found all the stars by myself! Big deal. I beat the second quest on the Legend of Zelda. Very big deal! 3.The programmers took their time making the games. When a game was going to be made for the NES, the big "N" waited until it was finished to liscence it. This ment no deadlines. SMB3 took 3 years to make. And it has been dubbed the "best video game ever made" by numerous gaming mags. The harder you work, the better the result. Nothing's changed. All I have to say to you if you still don't agree with me, is go pull out your NES and pop in Zelda. You'll see that NES is still fun after all these years. And if you still don't agree with me, you can go play FF7, but I'll be sitting at home playing the original FF1. 4:02 PM 8/4/98
