Shatterhand publisher:Jaleco programmer:Natsume release:1991 players:1 graphics:8 sound:9 play control:8 replay value:9 The plot of Shatterhand is a NYPD cop in the future who gets his hands broken by a robot and has them replaced with metal prosthetics capable of breaking many things, and even stopping bullets. And these are your only weapons against a ton of armed robots and mutants. The game itself uses a unique engine, where you start a mini level, then have the regular levels. This was later used by Capcom in their later Mega Man games. Although unlike Mega Man, you don't acquire boss weapons. Instead, you have a series of robots which are activated by collecting alpha and beta signs, with different combinations making different robots. You also collect money to buy such things as strength enhancements, health, and extra lives. One complaint I have with this game is that the bosses can be hard, and you can't save and no password system. But this game isn't overly difficult, and should provide a few hours of entertainment. final rating: get it
